The consortium’s founding members are four of the largest hospitals specializing in breast cancer research in Quebec:
Henceforth, these research centers will be pooling their resources in breast cancer clinical research. By joining forces, they will offer a higher patient recruitment potential to organizations (sponsors) that provide clinical research mandates.
The Group is responsible for developing and promoting breast cancer research capacity. The main operational activities of the Group focus on the start-up, recruitment and patient monitoring phases. These activities aim at increasing the efficiency of current practices whose harmonization will create an enabling environment to attract more clinical trials.
Member hospitals remain fully responsible for the implementation of research trials.
Associate members are hospitals active in clinical research in breast cancer who have decided to join the four founding members of the Group.
A large-scale project
The initiative is open to all Quebec hospitals that are currently active in breast cancer clinical research.
The Group aims to subsequently expand its action to regional hospitals, enabling them to start offering clinical trials to women living outside major urban centres. These regional hospitals will be invited to become affiliate members of the Group as part of the “Accès-recherche” program.
