On October 18th, the McPeak-Sirois Group had the pleasure of highlighting the participation of the CISSS de Chaudière-Appalaches as a member of the Group during the unveiling of a recognition plaque.
Gathered at the Centre régional intégré de cancérologie (CRIC) in Lévis, the founding couple of the Group and the management team of the CISSS, represented by Caroline Fortin, Deputy Director in Oncology, Palliative Care, End-of-Life, Gastroenterology and Inhalotherapy, Chantal Pilote, Director of Research and University Teaching, and Nathalie Châtigny, Interim Director of Multidisciplinary Services – Operations, shared their enthusiasm for this partnership during a ceremony attended by several other collaborators from the CISSS.
As Caroline Fortin pointed out, “It is important that our patients in the region have access to the same clinical trials as those in large centers, and this is what our affiliation with the McPeak-Sirois Group allows.”
Dr. Vincent Barrette, Hemato-oncologist at the CISSS de Chaudière-Appalaches and a member of the Group’s scientific committee, emphasized the innovative treatments available through clinical research and the benefits patients gain from participating in these trials.
For their part, co-founders Susan McPeak and Charles Sirois took the opportunity to remind everyone that the strength of this unique breast cancer clinical research consortium in the country is based, among other things, on pooling the expertise of the 12 member hospitals that currently make up the Group.
