Better Access to Clinical Trials for Women with Breast Cancer in Laval

The McPeak-Sirois Group and the CISSS de Laval are joining forces to improve access to clinical trials for people living with breast cancer in the region.

This partnership is part of the McPeak-Sirois Group’s Programme Accès-recherche Dr. André-Robidoux, financially supported by Breast Cancer Canada.

The program aims to expand access to clinical trials — representing cutting-edge treatment options — for people living with breast cancer outside major urban centres. Through clinical research, patients can benefit from the latest scientific advances, with the hope of improving their chances of survival and quality of life.

“We are very proud to welcome CISSS de Laval as an affiliated member of our Group, which now includes 16 hospital centres across Quebec and Ontario,” said Charles Sirois and Susan McPeak, co-founders of the McPeak-Sirois Group.

“Behind every clinical trial, there is hope. By facilitating access to research, we are offering breast cancer patients new opportunities for innovative treatments and helping improve their quality of life,” said Caroline Delisle, Director of Multidisciplinary Health and Social Services, Research and Teaching at CISSS de Laval.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Jean Christian Boileau to the Group’s Scientific Committee. His participation is excellent news for patients in the Laval region, who will benefit from greatly enhanced access to breast cancer clinical research protocols and tomorrow’s therapeutic innovations,” said Dr. Jamil Asselah, President of the Group’s Scientific Committee and medical oncologist at the McGill University Health Centre.

“By joining the McPeak-Sirois Group, our institution is significantly expanding access to new breast cancer research protocols. This will allow people in our region to participate in the forefront of treatment advances for this disease and contribute to the advancement of knowledge to optimize future care plans,” added Dr. Jean Christian Boileau, hematologist-oncologist at Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé at CISSS de Laval.
